One of the things that makes this site a little different is the chance for people to share thoughts, feelings, impressions, and experiences regarding the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Most sharing will be done through comments in the Our Thoughts feature, which is organized by topic. (This is not a discussion-driven site, so each comment can be considered a sort of mini-post in and of itself.) Please share your thoughts on whatever topic(s) inspire you. You can also share your favorite scriptures and quotes along with how and why they have impacted your life. A topic list and more detail on contributing to this feature can be found below.
This is also a place where writers, artists, musicians and others (you don’t have to be a professional!) can share your voices through (non-commercial) creative works. We invite you to consider submitting works in any of the following categories (please also let us know if you find already-existing works that are non-commercial and publicly accessible to which we might be able to link):
- First Person — This feature includes personal essays and poetry from members of the Church about how the gospel of Jesus Christ impacts and is applied in their lives. We also have provided links to various sites that have collected individual conversion stories — peoples’ first-hand accounts of how they found the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and why they joined. You can submit your own conversion story here at this site (by sending an email to ‘mormonwoman’ AT ‘gmail’ DOT ‘com,’ or at any of the other links.
- Music — Some people have made music available for free online…a way for them to share their faith and conviction with others. If you are musician, won’t you consider sharing your voice in this way?
- Video and Multimedia — There is so much that can be done through video and multimedia technology (such as slideshows) to express ourselves. Simple video testimony is also included here.
- Visual Arts — This is a new feature, and we invite those of you who are artists to consider sharing some of your work (painting, drawing, sculpture, photography) as a way to share your voice. Also, find links to pieces from the Church’s international art competitions, temple visitor centers’ exhibits, and other links. (If you are aware of such a link, please let us know!)
If you would like to submit pictures or links sharing of any of the above, please send us your work to ‘mormonwoman’ AT ‘gmail’ DOT ‘com.’ Put “Sharing Our Voices” in the subject line along with the type of submission (e.g., music, photography, video, etc.) Submissions are subject to review for consistency with the goals of this site. Please respect all copyright laws in your submissions. Written submissions are subject to editing. Those who submit any of the above will retain rights to their work.
Our Thoughts
The comments feature is enabled on “Our Thoughts” posts to enable you to contribute your thoughts on how the gospel has positively impacted your life, or has helped you with questions and challenges you have had. You can also share favorite scriptures or quotes and why they are meaningful to you. Simply click on a topic below and make a comment on one of the “Our Thoughts” posts.
If you are uncomfortable sharing your name, you can use initials, first name only, or even something like ‘a sister from Florida’ or ‘a friend in Europe.’ Your email address is required for the comment to be submitted, but email addresses do not appear on the site and will not be shared (unless you give us permission if someone wants to discuss something with you privately). Comments are moderated (we read each comment!) so they won’t show up immediately. Please note that we will remove links to to personal or group blogs, so please do not include a web site URL when you comment. (But if you have something from your blog you would like to share, please feel free to send it via email as an original submission to be considered for inclusion on the site!)
Some of the posts right now are empty and are there simply to make sure there is a place for you to share your thoughts. (Don’t be afraid to be the first!)
